Question 798

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Peace, mercy, and blessings of my Lord be upon my master and guardian, the Yamani of the family of Muhammad. Below are some religious questions from some brother supporters. We hope you will answer them. May Allah grant you victory and might. Q1: Each year, one of the brother supporters donates a feast or an amount to the brother supporters specifically at the Husayniyyah. Is it permissible to give the mentioned amount to a supporter whom he finds in need?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

If it is merely a donation, he can do what he regards as appropriate. If he previously held a feast, it is better that he likewise gather his brothers for a feast to break the fast on one of the days of Ramadan. Q2: If the supporters donate a specified amount to one of the supporters and the donated amount exceeds the required amount, should the amount be given to him with the surplus, should the surplus be given to another person in need, must his permission be obtained to give the surplus to someone else or use it for the supporters’ interests, must the donors’ permission be obtained to dispose of the surplus, or should it be given to the person responsible for finances to dispose of it? A: Since the donors donated to this person, the correct course is to obtain his permission concerning the surplus so that it may be spent on the need of another believing person in need. Q3: A supporter works in a civil government institution. He asks whether he may take a full month’s leave in Ramadan for the purpose of fasting at home by obtaining medical leave or for any other reason, given that the institution or department has no objection to granting the leave. A: It is permissible. Q4: If a room is covered with thick plastic flooring that is fixed to the floor or difficult to lift for cleaning, and impurity such as urine or something else falls upon it, what is the method of purifying it from impurity, given that washing it with water causes decay underneath it? A: Since the impurity is upon the floor of a roofed room, there is no better or easier means of purifying it than water. But a small amount of water can suffice to avoid decay. It is washed once to remove the impurity and a second time for purification. First, the impurity can be removed without water. The second time, a small amount of water is poured upon the impure place and removed by drying it with a cloth or sponge. Then, one final time, the place is washed with water for purification: water is placed upon the spot and lifted with a sponge or cloth. A small amount of water suffices. Ahmed Alhasan
