Seven years ago, on the night of 3-11, or 13 Ramadan, or 3 Ramadan of that year, after study had exhausted me I lay down late and saw myself in Karbala walking with a person I could not see. Together we entered the sanctuary of Imam al-Husayn (peace be upon him) from the rear door opposite the qiblah gate. He began pointing out people to me. The courtyard was extremely crowded and contained many politicians displaying election posters; among them, as I remember, were al-Pachachi, al-Chalabi, and others. I also saw Saddam in a poster, laughing a great deal and walking between the two sanctuaries. Then he led me out through the qiblah gate and we reached the monument called the Ship of Salvation now near that gate. The Imam gestured to me-I felt in the dream that he was Imam al-Mahdi, although I definitely saw no person-that I would be martyred with him in Karbala. He told me, ‘You will marry so-and-so, be granted two children through her, and be martyred with me.’ I said, ‘Let me go and entrust my children to my mother.’ He said, ‘Do not worry; you have much time ahead of you.’ The vision ended.
