Question 838 - The Enlightening Answer Across the Ether, Vol 7

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. It appears you acknowledge the existence of a Most High Lord who created this universe and all it contains. This requires that this Most High Lord be wise and knowing. One who is wise and knowing cannot create beings and leave them without a leader and guide who implements among them the will of the Great, Most High Lord. Thus there must be a representative of the Most High Lord in every age, whether or not people recognize and follow him. This representative must be the most knowledgeable and wise of the people, must be designated by the Most High Lord, and must call exclusively to obedience to Him, not to another of His creation. This is the law for recognizing the Proof, as Sayyid Ahmed Alhasan (peace be upon him) calls it. If you proceed according to this law, you will reach the truthfulness of the prophets and messengers (peace be upon them) in every age, through the Messenger Muhammad (may Allah send prayers upon him and his family), then the Imams after him, and then the rightfulness of Sayyid Ahmed Alhasan (peace be upon him) and the truthfulness of his Call. May Allah grant you every good and righteousness.
