Question 850

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Peace be upon you. It is known that five inevitable signs precede the appearance: the sinking at al-Baydaʾ, the heavenly Cry, the killing of the Pure Soul between the Corner and Station, and the emergence of the Sufyani and Yamani on one day, in one month and year, racing like two horses toward Kufa. If you are the Yamani, who is the Sufyani and where is the race? No narration of the Ahl al-Bayt tells us the Yamani is the Mahdi’s son; it only tells us his is the most rightly guided banner. What is your proof that you are the Yamani? If the Messenger’s weapon is knowledge, what are my name and complete lineage, so that I may come to you crawling over snow? Accept my highest respect and appreciation, for I seek and search for truth. Thank you. Salam al-Iraqi - Iraq

Scientific Committee Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Brother, notice that the Yamani and Sufyani race toward Kufa like two horses. Is there a race or movement toward Kufa by the Yamani today, such that you demand, ‘Where is the Sufyani?’ Did you learn from the family of Muhammad that truth is known through falsehood? Did they not say truth is known through evidence? Is the Sufyani evidence for the Yamani, that you ask this? Imam Ahmed Alhasan explained that he is Imam al-Mahdi’s son by invoking the testament of his grandfather, the Messenger of Allah. That testament establishes his sonship. The Yamani narration explains that the Yamani is one of Allah’s Proofs. After Muhammad, Allah has no Proofs over creation other than those Muhammad established in his testament: the twelve Imams and twelve Mahdis. Imam Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Mahdi is the twelfth Imam and is not the Yamani. Combining the testament with Imam al-Baqir’s narration known as the Yamani narration shows that the Yamani, whose banner is guidance, is the caller to Imam al-Mahdi and the sign of truth in the age of appearance. The First Mahdi is the first believer, so the Yamani must be the first believer; there is absolutely no other possibility. Thus it is shown that the Yamani is Imam al-Hujjah’s son. Your statement, ‘If the Messenger’s weapon is knowledge, what is my name?’ resembles what one man said when Imam Ali told the people, ‘Ask me before you lose me’: he came forward and asked, ‘If you claim knowledge, how many hairs are in my beard?’ Since you say you seek truth, I advise and explain: knowing your name and full lineage is not divine knowledge. You can go to any diviner or practitioner of such matters and he will tell you your name and lineage. If that diviner does so, will you come to him crawling over snow? Divine knowledge is knowledge of doctrine and of what lies between the two covers. The family of Muhammad instructed us that if someone claims this matter, ask him about the tremendous matters that one like him answers. Is there anything today more tremendous than the Quran, Torah, and Gospel-the messages of the Lord of the worlds-about which to ask? Is your name and lineage as tremendous as those messages? If you are truthful in seeking reality, seek it through evidence and ask to understand, not obstinately. May Allah guide you to truth and reality. All your questions are welcome; do not take my words as belittling you-Allah forbid. They are advice, and I ask Allah to make you benefit from it as those before us advised us and we benefited. I also invite you to visit the website of the supporters of Imam al-Mahdi to review more evidence for the blessed Yamani Call and its caller, Imam Ahmed Alhasan: http://vb.al-mehdyoon.org Praise be to Allah alone, alone, alone.
