Question 99
Must the places of prostration be horizontally level? For example, if a person is standing on a mattress whose height exceeds one brick while the place of the forehead is lower, is the prayer valid?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Horizontal levelness is not required. Under normal circumstances, the place of the forehead may be slightly lower or higher than the other places of prostration by the amount of one brick. In necessity, a much greater difference in height is permissible.
