Question 168
After people have reached the state in which they perform full prayers while traveling, having spent six months or more in work or travel that exceeds their time at home, what is their ruling if they leave that work or travel but have not permanently turned away from that way of life—for example, because they are looking for another job or because of a temporary circumstance? If they travel for a day or two, do they remain under the previous ruling or shorten their prayers?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Their previous state continues even while they remain at home, so long as they have not turned away from that previous condition, until six months have passed. Thus, if one of them travels for one day for a visit or medical treatment, for example, the person performs full prayers.
