Question 3
Do the children of the Ansar who have reached puberty have to perform the ghusl of repentance? I have a daughter who has entered her eighth year; does she have to perform the ghusl of repentance?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Acts of worship are not obligatory upon a child who has not reached puberty. After puberty, the person must perform the obligatory acts, such as prayer, fasting, and the obligatory ghusls. As for the ghusl of repentance, it is for someone who did not know the truth and then came to know it; it is not obligatory upon a child merely because the child has reached puberty.
