Question 123
If a person is required to perform an obligatory ghusl but cannot do so because of illness or a similar excuse, does the person perform tayammum once and then perform wudu for later prayers, or perform tayammum for every prayer?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
The person performs tayammum in place of ghusl, and as long as the excuse remains, that tayammum continues to suffice in place of ghusl. If a minor ritual invalidator occurs after the tayammum, the person performs wudu if able to do so, or performs tayammum in place of wudu if wudu is not possible.
