Question 26

It is disliked to perform istinja with the left hand while wearing on it a ring bearing the name of God or one of the awliya. What if one knows or thinks that impurity will come into contact with it?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

It is forbidden to make the name of God impure. If one knows and is certain that the name will become impure during istinja, then performing istinja in this manner is forbidden until the ring is removed or something is done to protect the sacred name from impurity. If one only thinks this may happen, then it is disliked.
