Question 188

When a person turns to God in prostration and asks Him to let that person bear the pain that has afflicted someone dear to him, does God Almighty answer such a supplication?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

God answers the supplication of the one who calls upon Him, and God Almighty is generous; there is no stinginess in God's domain. It is better for a person to ask God to remove the pain from the one he loves rather than asking to bear the pain in that person's place.
