Question 53

Is it permissible to eat what is sold as ‘chicken salt’?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

Whether it is lawful depends on its ingredients, not its name. I believe this type of salt is usually simply salt together with spices and other lawful ingredients, so there is no problem in consuming it. But always read the ingredients of any product you buy so that you are reasonably assured it contains nothing forbidden to eat or impure.
