Following up on the previous answer: what if the insect itself is completely ground up and put into sweets, for example?

If you mean that the insect itself is added, insects may not be eaten. Carmine coloring, however, is normally extracted from the insect, as described in the Encyclopaedia Britannica reference cited in the source.
