Question 61
I work as a partner in a pizza shop in Australia. The shop sells some pizzas containing pork and also cooks pork by boiling it in water, refrigerating it, and later heating it in the same conveyor oven used for pizzas. What is the legal ruling on the work and the income, whether I am only a work partner or a partner in both capital and work, given that the other partner purchases the pork? What is the ruling on lawful food that contains no pork but is cooked in the same oven as pork or pork-containing pizza, whether at the same time or afterward? And what is the ruling on steam coming from pork or pork pizza during cooking?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
There is no problem with the work or the income so long as pork or other food forbidden for you to eat is sold to people who regard it as lawful. There is also no problem in using the other lawful foods cooked in the same oven. Steam coming from pork is not considered impure.
