What is the ruling on human or animal cloning? Is it ethical or lawful, and what benefit does it have?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
I previously explained that there is no problem with animal or human cloning when there is necessity and a need for it and no Sharia impediment of the kinds I have explained. I believe cloning is important and necessary for saving the lives of many people and also for treating the blind, the paralyzed, and others. There is also no impediment to cloning embryos and benefiting from stem cells to produce human organs for the man or woman from whom the cloned embryo is derived.
