Question 31
There has recently been much discussion about a film that insults the Noble Messenger. What is the ruling on watching films of this kind that portray the prophets and the Ahl al-Bayt, whether the work portrays their lives and their role in guiding the nations or insults them?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
There is no problem with portraying the infallibles if the portrayal does not demean them or attribute falsehood to them, especially if the film shows the goodness of their actions and words and encourages people to believe in them. As for films that insult them, it is better not to watch them except when there is a necessity, such as responding to them or taking a position based on their content.
