Question 72

Does an Ansari husband have the right to insult, curse, or hit his wife and blame her for every mistake in the home, even over ordinary matters such as forgetting where something he gave her was placed?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

Certainly insulting and cursing are not permissible; this is taken for granted. The relationship between spouses is supposed to be one of affection and love, not aversion, and both parties are required to work toward that.
