Question 118
A man committed adultery with a married woman many years ago. They separated and both repented to God. Years later they met by chance and he learned that her husband had died several years earlier. May he now marry her?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
A man who commits zina with a woman is not, merely for that reason, permanently forbidden from marrying her. But if he committed zina with a woman who was married, or with a woman in a revocable waiting period, she becomes permanently forbidden to him.
