Question 49

If a person’s prescribed duty is Hajj al-Ifrad but he performs Hajj al-Tamattu‘, does his Hajj count as sufficient?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

It is stated in The Laws of Islam: “This form and Hajj al-Qiran are the obligation of the people of Mecca and those whose distance from it is less than 22 kilometers in every direction. If these people switch to Hajj al-Tamattu‘, whether out of necessity or by choice, it is permissible and no sacrificial animal is required of them.”
