Question 43
Peace be upon you. Please answer my question, because you are more knowledgeable about religious matters. A Christian man-a Catholic-has proposed to me, and I accepted because he is an honest person, believes in Allah, and is sincere. But I would like to consult you: may I marry him? Is marrying him lawful or forbidden before Allah? I ask because I am Muslim. Please answer my question, because I am perplexed-some say it is lawful and others say it is forbidden, and now I turn to you. Thank you. Hiba from Jordan - Muslim, twenty-one years old 29 Rabi al-Thani 1426 AH
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. If you are Muslim, it is not permissible for you to marry a non-Muslim. Ahmed Alhasan Jumada al-Awwal 1426 AH
