Question 48

In His exalted name. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Please answer the following two questions. May Allah reward you well. Question 1: Among your miracles establishing that you are sent by Imam al-Mahdi-may Allah hasten his relief-is that a person sees the Imam’s image in a dream and he compels him to follow you. But I tried this and did not succeed. Please give me the method for doing so. May Allah reward you well. Question 2: Someone claims that he is the most knowledgeable and the nearest to Allah the Exalted: His Eminence Sayyid Mahmud al-Hasani. He claims to be the guardian of the Muslims and calls for debate. Since you have come forward for debate to establish your proof, why do you not debate this person to establish that his claim to being the most knowledgeable is untrue? He claims that one of the proofs of his superior knowledge is that no one debates him, and to this point he has not debated anyone. Please answer these two questions, because I have been affected by you to a considerable extent, but to this point I have found no answer to them. May Allah the Exalted grant you success in attaining His satisfaction. Murtada 5 Jumada al-Awwal 1426 AH

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. There is a supplication on the website; recite it-the supplication found in the answer to Question 14. I-and I seek refuge in Allah from the ‘I’-invited everyone to debate using the Noble Quran in order to establish the truth. This includes Sayyid Mahmud al-Hasani, who calls for debate in the science of principles of jurisprudence. Sheikh Nazim al-Uqayli, one of the Supporters, responded to him with the book The Silencing Argument. It is now printed, and neither Sayyid Mahmud al-Hasani nor anyone representing him has responded to it. The Silencing Argument constitutes a debate between Sayyid Mahmud al-Hasani and the Supporters of Imam al-Mahdi (a). Read it and reflect so that you may know the possessor of the truth. I ask Allah to guide you to the straight path, show you truth as truth and grant you its following, and show you falsehood as falsehood and grant you its avoidance. Ahmed Alhasan Jumada al-Awwal 1426 AH
