Question 56

What is the interpretation of His words, the Exalted: ‘We have bound every person’s bird to his neck, and on the Day of Resurrection We will bring forth for him a book that he will find spread open’ ([11])? Sender: Ibrahim Rughayl

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. It means the person’s allegiance and his deeds, both good and evil. If the person is loyal to the guardian of Allah and His Proof over His creation, his book will be white and will contain his good and evil deeds. If he is not loyal to the guardian of Allah and His Proof over His creation, or is loyal to Allah’s enemies among the false pretenders, his book will be black, he will be cast into the Fire, and Allah will not speak to him ([12]): ‘He will say, “Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me”’ ([13]). The Exalted said: ‘Indeed, those who conceal what Allah has sent down of the Book and exchange it for a small price consume nothing into their bellies but the Fire. Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them, and they will have a painful punishment’ ([14]). The Exalted also said: ‘Indeed, those who exchange Allah’s covenant and their oaths for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter. Allah will not speak to them or look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them, and they will have a painful punishment’ ([15]).
