Question 119

On the eve of Arafat, I saw in a dream that the honored Kaaba had been raised from its place and set high between two mountains. The people performing circumambulation were turning and colliding with one another randomly while looking toward the Kaaba with longing and yearning. Then a voice said, ‘Even looking at the Kaaba is forbidden except to the believers.’ Sender: Haydar Tahir

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. The Kaaba is the direction faced by the people in their prayer. In the vision it means Allah’s Proof over His creation and His vicegerent, Glorious is He; through him Allah is known, and he is the direction that leads to Allah ([269]). Its being raised means his becoming distant from the people or being absent from them. It is narrated from the Imams (a): ‘When Allah dislikes our being neighbors to a people, He removes us from among them’ ([270]).

Al-Sadiq (a) said: ‘We are Allah’s Kaaba, and we are Allah’s qibla.’ Al-Sirat al-Mustaqim by Ali ibn Yunus al-Amili, vol. 2, p. 75. A poet said in praise of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (a): ‘He is the central qibla, around which delegations are seen; it has the sanctuary of Allah, the Dominant, and the lawful precinct. And His greatest sign and His proof, which was established against whoever here possessed reason.’
