Question 251 - The Enlightening Answer Across the Ether, Vol 3

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Answer 1: Music is unlawful, songs are unlawful, and listening to them is unlawful. Listening is intentional and is unlike hearing, which occurs without intention. Only the drums of war and blowing the trumpet to make an announcement are permissible. Answer 2: Drawing is permissible, even of animate beings, unless the drawing itself contains another prohibition, such as exposing private parts or the drawing or sculpture being an idol worshipped apart from Allah. Answer 3: As for your question about the dog of the Companions of the Cave, I explained it in detail in The Allegories, so refer to it there. Likewise, there is a question in The Allegories concerning the impurity of the dog from which you can benefit. If you have another question, send it (^[91]).
