Question 286

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Intensely Merciful. I found nothing in your answer other than a collection of narrations and Quranic texts that anyone wishing to claim this matter could twist and interpret in his own favor. As for dreams, after confusion afflicted me, and after persistent supplication and prayer, I saw in sleep what one sees in a dream: it was as though a voice informed me, saying, ‘The Proof possesses the proof that he is the Proof.’ Unfortunately, with all my great respect for you, I have found no convincing proof with you. If I am right, then praise be to Allah; and if I am wrong, perhaps I will be excused before Allah. Finally, but not lastly, I thank you very much for the reply. I hope Allah will grant us and you success upon His path and His guidance. The last of our prayer is: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. The doubter, Firas - Switzerland

Supporters Response:

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Intensely Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send His prayers upon Muhammad and his family, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Your statement: ‘I found nothing in your answer other than a collection of narrations and Quranic texts that anyone wishing to claim this matter could twist and interpret in his own favor.’ I say: If anyone could interpret the reports of the Messenger Muhammad (s) and his purified family (a) as applying to himself, they would have no benefit. Rather, they would be a path to misguidance and confusion-far be that from them-when they were given to guide people and distinguish truth from falsehood. This is especially true of the will of the Messenger Muhammad (s) on the night of his death, when he designated his successors until the Day of Resurrection and named thirteen of them: the twelve Imams and the first of the Mahdis, the successor of Imam al-Mahdi, Ahmad. In a narration from Imam al-Jawad (a), he says that had the Messenger of Allah (s) not made a testament, those in men’s loins would have been lost ([309]). That is, the testament is guidance and proof for those in men’s loins so that they may recognize the successors after the Messenger Muhammad (s) and distinguish them by their names and attributes. Far be it from Allah to make something a proof and then enable impostors and liars to claim it and have it apply to them. I explained to you in the preceding answer the impossibility of the will applying to anyone other than its people. I do not know by what proof and argument you say that the words of the infallible ones can be interpreted as applying to someone other than the one they truly intended?! It was also narrated that the people of the end time are superior to the people of every other age because they believed in black upon white-that is, ink upon paper, namely the narrations of Muhammad and his family (a): From Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ali ibn Abi Talib (a), in a long narration concerning the Prophet’s will (s), in which the Messenger of Allah (s) said to him: ‘O Ali, know that the people whose faith is most wondrous and whose certainty is greatest are a people who will exist at the end of time. They did not meet a prophet and the Proof was concealed from them, yet they believed in black upon white’ ([310]). I explained to you previously that this is among the proofs of the prophets and Imams (a), and the deniers rejected it using the same argument you now use. I had hoped not to hear such words from you. Your statement: ‘As for dreams, after confusion afflicted me, and after persistent supplication and prayer, I saw in sleep what one sees in a dream: it was as though a voice informed me, saying, “The Proof possesses the proof that he is the Proof.”’ I say: This vision is against you, not for you, and it presently has no instance other than Sayyed Ahmad al-Hasan. He possesses the proof that the Imams (a) explained and emphasized: the will, knowledge, and Allah’s governance-that is, the command to obey. In the preceding answer, I mentioned to you the narrations stating that the Proof is recognized through the will, namely the will of the Messenger of Allah (s), in which Sayyed Ahmad al-Hasan was mentioned by his description. As for knowledge, the greatest knowledge is the Noble Quran. Sayyed Ahmad al-Hasan challenged all the scholars to debate through the Noble Quran. He sent down the book The Allegories, four volumes of which have been issued so far, and challenged them to refute what it contains. As for the governance of Allah Most High, Sayyed Ahmad al-Hasan is the only one who raised the slogan ‘Allah’s governance’ and ‘allegiance belongs to Allah.’ He is the one concerning whom the Imams (a) designated that whoever turns away from him is among the people of the Fire, in the narrations of the Yamani. Sayyed Ahmad al-Hasan explained that the first of the Mahdis-Ahmad-and the Yamani are one person with several names and attributes. These are the proofs of the prophets and Imams (a), and they themselves are present with Sayyed Ahmad al-Hasan. The discussion of this subject is lengthy. You can gain a comprehensive understanding through the books of Sayyed Ahmad al-Hasan and the books of his supporters, including Allah’s Governance, Illuminations in Three Volumes, The Will and the Successor Ahmad al-Hasan, The Promised Yamani Is Allah’s Proof, and many others. Your statement: ‘Unfortunately, with all my great respect for you, I have found no convincing proof with you. If I am right, then praise be to Allah; and if I am wrong, perhaps I will be excused before Allah.’ I say: With my respect for you, where are they and how many are those who acknowledged the proofs of the prophets and Imams (a)? They are few, like red sulfur, as the Commander of the Believers (a) described them ([311]). Know that if you are wrong-and this is certain-there will be no excuse for you tomorrow before Allah Most High or before Imam al-Mahdi (a). To Allah belongs the conclusive proof against the people, and no one has a proof against Him. Your statement: ‘Finally, but not lastly, I thank you very much for the reply. I hope Allah will grant us and you success upon His path and His guidance. The last of our prayer is: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.’ I say: Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. This is our duty, and no thanks are due for performing a duty. I hope I have not fallen short in explaining the truth to you. I ask Allah Most High to take you by the hand toward supporting the truth represented by Sayyed Ahmad al-Hasan, the Yamani of the family of Muhammad, and not to make you tomorrow among those who say: ‘On the day the wrongdoer bites his hands, he will say, “If only I had taken a path with the Messenger. Woe to me! If only I had not taken so-and-so as an intimate friend. He certainly led me away from the Reminder after it had come to me.” Satan has always forsaken the human being’ ([312]). Know that you are the ones in need of Allah, while He is the Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy. Likewise, His proofs are free of need through His sufficiency, Most High. Allah Most High said: ‘Their guidance is not upon you, but Allah guides whom He wills. Whatever good you spend is for your own souls, and you spend only seeking the face of Allah. Whatever good you spend will be repaid to you in full, and you will not be wronged’ ([313]). Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send His prayers upon Muhammad and his family, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. The Scientific Committee Supporters of Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah establish him upon the earth) Sheikh Nazim al-Uqayli

↑ [309] Al-Kulayni narrated through his chain, in a long report from Abu Ja‘far the Second (a), who said: Abu Abdullah (a) said, continuing until he says: “The successor of the Messenger of Allah (s) is supported, and the Messenger of Allah (s) appoints as successor only one who judges by his judgment, and only one who is like him except in prophethood. If the Messenger of Allah (s) appointed no one as successor in his knowledge, then he neglected those in the loins of men who would come after him.” Al-Kafi: vol. 1, pp. 242–245.

By the One who sent me with the truth as a bearer of good tidings and a warner, those who remain steadfast in affirming his Imamate during his occultation are rarer than red sulfur.” Jabir ibn Abdullah stood before him and said: “Messenger of Allah, will the Qa’im from your offspring have an occultation?” He said: “Yes, by my Lord, so that Allah may purify those who believe and obliterate the disbelievers.” Then he said: “Jabir, this is a matter of Allah’s matters and a secret of Allah’s secrets. Beware of doubt, for doubt concerning the matter of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is disbelief.” Kamal al-Din: p. 287.
