Question 316

Peace be upon you. Concerning the words of the Exalted, ‘And the male is not like the female’ ([46]), why did the Quran place the male before the female? Q2: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. ‘My God, how delightful to the hearts are the thoughts of inspiration through Your remembrance, and how sweet is the journey toward You through imaginings along the paths of the unseen.’ Peace and mercy be upon you. I wish to understand this passage from the intimate supplication. Would you please explain it? Many thanks to you. Q3: Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. ‘Woman is evil in her entirety, and the worst in her is that she is indispensable.’ 1. To what extent is this hadith authentic in chain and text, as narrated from the Commander of the Believers (a) in Nahj al-Balagha and Ghurar al-Hikam? 2. If the hadith is authentic, what does it mean and in what historical circumstances was it said? Many thanks to you. Sender: Khalifa ibn Ahmed

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Answer to Q1: The male was placed first because they had been promised a male, namely Jesus (a). When Mary (a) came, they were surprised because she was female, and they learned that Jesus would be from her offspring. Allah made Jesus (a) from Mary (a), and thus what He had promised them was fulfilled: ‘When she delivered her, she said, “My Lord, I have delivered her, a female”-and Allah knew best what she had delivered-“and the male is not like the female. I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge in You for her and her offspring from Satan, the accursed”’ ([47]). Answer to Q2: ‘My God, how delightful to the hearts are the thoughts of inspiration through Your remembrance, and how sweet is the journey toward You through imaginings along the paths of the unseen.’ Through sincerity, the human being is granted success in true remembrance, and through remembrance he is granted success in knowledge. Inspiration is one of the paths of knowledge. As a result of inspiration, knowledge increases. As the human being journeys toward Allah, what is expected is that sincerity from the human being continue to increase, as does the success descending upon him from Allah. Then inspiration from Allah and knowledge in the human being increase, and so on, until the human being knows that true knowledge is his inability to know the reality and the essence. Answer to Q3: It is not authentic. Ahmed Alhasan 1430 AH
