Question 372

Peace be upon you, my noble believing brothers. In 2006, my daughter was ill. I presented her to doctors in Spain, and they said it was a chronic illness. I began supplicating every day. In my supplication I always appealed to Imam al-Mahdi-may Allah hasten his relief-and said, ‘My master, by the right of al-Husayn’s blood, the infant, and al-Zahra’s broken rib, supplicate to Allah to heal my daughter.’ On Thursday, after the visitation of Imam al-Husayn (a), I supplicated to Imam al-Mahdi-may Allah hasten his relief-and saw in a dream that I was sitting with a friend named Sattar and a friend named Haydar, with a fire for warmth in the middle. I saw a tall man wearing white clothing whose face radiated light so that I could not see his features. He said, ‘Your daughter will be healed.’ I asked, ‘Who are you?’ He said, ‘I am Imam al-Mahdi-may Allah hasten his relief.’ I said, ‘My master, by the right of al-Husayn’s blood, may I be among your supporters?’ He said, ‘On condition that you cross this cemetery.’ In the cemetery were black soldiers as though they were Satan. My friend Sattar said, ‘I too wish to be among your supporters, my master.’ Imam al-Mahdi-may Allah hasten his relief-said, ‘You remain where you are. This test is only for Maytham.’ I entered the cemetery, and in its middle my friend Haydar guided me to the way out. I emerged safely, and praise be to Allah. Allah is witness to what I say. What does this mean? By Allah, I saw another vision with Imam al-Mahdi, and Allah is witness to what I say. In the dream I was sleeping between a woman and a man, and a grave was before us. I rose in alarm, and the woman said, ‘Sleep; do not fear.’ I asked, ‘Who are you?’ She said, ‘I am al-Zahra (a), this is my husband Ali (a), and this is the grave of my father, the Messenger of Allah (s). We protect you; do not fear.’ I request the answer. May Allah reward you a thousandfold. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Sender: al-Rikabi - Spain

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. A cemetery is the place of the dead. In this vision, it indicates people who are misguided and deviated from the truth, who do not listen to the word of truth and do not wish to follow the truth. They are the true dead. The Exalted said: ‘The living and the dead are not equal. Indeed, Allah causes whomever He wills to hear, but you cannot make those in the graves hear’ ([104]). Your test, therefore, is to cross this cemetery and the dead who inhabit it and wish to prevent you from continuing your journey toward the truth and following it. In every age, these are the eminent people who turn people away from the truth, from following the divine messages, and from acting according to them. They are the scholars of misguidance and the claimants to religious knowledge who benefit from them, whether materially or through status and precedence over others in the name of religion. Beware lest these dead people and their companions from among the satans of the jinn, who surround their foul, dark graves, turn you away. They assist them in turning people away from the truth by whispering. The Exalted said: ‘Thus We made for every prophet an enemy: satans from humankind and the jinn, inspiring one another with embellished speech in deception. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done it. So leave them and what they fabricate’ ([105]). The Exalted also said: ‘There were men from humankind who sought refuge with men from the jinn, so they increased them in burden’ ([106]). I ask Allah to grant you success in sincerity to Him, Glorious is He, so that what you saw may be completed for you, you may succeed in the test and cross into the field of truth, and you may disgrace the dead-the grave-dwellers among the claimants to religiosity who graze in darkness and turn people away from the light and the path of Allah-so that they and their companions from among the satans of the jinn fail to turn you away from continuing toward the truth, following it, and acting according to it. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Shawwal 1430 AH
