Question 386
The reports state that everyone who claims to have witnessed Imam al-Mahdi (a) is a liar. What, then, do you say when you claim this? Sender: Alaa
Supporters Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send His prayers upon Muhammad and his family, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Brother Alaa, you say ‘reports,’ but there is only one report concerning which many statements have been made, between those who rely upon it and those who disregard it: the signed letter to al-Samarri-may Allah have mercy upon him. Reports that oppose it and confirm seeing Imam al-Mahdi (a) are too numerous to count. Go back and read what many Shia scholars have written in reports concerning meetings with Imam al-Mahdi (a). What you imagine is promoted by the jurists of evil, who exploited the people's ignorance and lack of acquaintance with the books of the earlier practicing scholars and proceeded to delude the people with what you have said, while the truth is entirely otherwise. If you wish to verify the truth, read what has been written about Imam al-Mahdi's (a) meetings with Ali ibn Mahziyar al-Ahwazi, Sayyed Mahdi Bahr al-Ulum, Sheikh Najaf, and many other early and later figures throughout the major occultation of the Imam (a). Perhaps the incident in which he met Sayyed Haydar al-Hilli and asked him to recite his poem ‘Allah, O Protector of the Law’ is more famous than a beacon on a mountain. Would you call all those renowned figures liars? Noble brother, I call you to be serious in researching and seeking the truth, to examine the proofs of the Yamani call, and not to stop at hearsay without verification and research. The matter of the Yamani (a) is not as its enemies portray it. Has the matter of Imam al-Mahdi (a) become like this for the people-subject to hearsay and the lies of the jurists? I ask Allah to guide you to the path of truth, to show you the truth as truth and grant you its following, and to show you falsehood as falsehood and grant you its avoidance. Praise be to Allah alone, alone, alone. The Scientific Committee Supporters of Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah establish him upon the earth) Mr. Zaki al-Ansari 15 Ramadan 1430 AH
