Question 410
Peace be upon you. My brother Ahmed Alhasan: Please help me. Some members of my family envy me [as printed]: my siblings at home and my relatives from my mother’s family and my father’s family. My father himself does not wish good for us. He considers us a piece of furniture and does not let us leave the house. He rejects anyone who proposes to us. My request concerns verses that I can recite every day, or please explain more to me-may Allah grant you well-being. Can you give me something concerning envy? Even my father’s wife has done a work upon my father-sorcery-that makes him torment us and lets her direct him as she wishes, while he does not ask about us. My brother, I implore you by the right of al-Zahra to answer me and not make me wait long; by the right of the Prophet Muhammad (s), Imam Ali (a), al-Hasan-peace be upon him-and al-Husayn, the stranger of Karbala (a), help me. May Allah grant you well-being, help you, and provide you from His good deeds. Sender: N. H.
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis. To be rid of envy and sorcery, take some saffron and place it in a little water, so that the color of the liquid is close to red. Recite over this water Surat al-Fatihah, al-Tawhid, al-Falaq, al-Nas, and al-Kafirun. With a clean tree branch, write upon a white sheet of paper in saffron Ayat al-Kursi; Kaf-Ha-Ya-Ayn-Sad; Ha-Mim-Ayn-Sin-Qaf; ‘Nun. By the pen and what they inscribe’; Ya-Sin; Ha-Mim; Alif-Lam-Mim; Alif-Lam-Ra; Surat al-Falaq; and Surat al-Nas. Then take this paper and place it in a little water-three liters of water-and wash yourself with the water. Gather what remains from the washing and pour it in a pure place. Allah willing, through the blessing of the verses of Allah, it will be a cause for the sorcery to leave the person upon whom it was done. After this, recite ‘Glory be to Him; He is Allah, the One, the Subduer’ ten thousand times in fewer than three days. Continually repeat the recitation of Ayat al-Kursi and Surat al-Falaq to ward off envy, especially at dawn and sunset, so that Allah may grant you success in recognizing the truth and proceeding upon it.
