Question 432

Is khums lawful for the Shia during the Major Occultation? Reliable sources, please. Peace be upon you. Sender: Sayyed Irfan Kazimi

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. No one has the right to receive the khums that belongs to the Imam (a) except the Imam (a) or one whom the Imam (a) has authorized. He (a) has not authorized anyone to receive khums on his behalf. Therefore, those who claim jurisprudential knowledge have no right to receive wealth belonging specifically to the Imam and then dispose of it according to what they claim pleases him. How would they know what pleases him (a)? Ahmed Alhasan Dhu al-Hijjah 1430 AH
