Question 436

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. My master, peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. My question concerns the two units of shaf and witr: 1. Is there no qunut in them? If there is none, what is the reason? 2. What is the reason that the unit of witr is odd? And concerning the recommended supplication within it that is arranged in this order-seeking forgiveness for forty believers, seeking forgiveness seventy times, saying ‘This is the station of one who seeks refuge with You from the Fire’ seven times, and requesting pardon three hundred times-what is the reason for these numbers: forty, seventy, seven, and three hundred in the supplication? I ask for supplication for me and my supporter brothers. Sender: Mundhir Ahmed - Iraq

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Qunut is recommended in the unit of witr before bowing and after it. May Allah grant you success. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Late Safar 1431 AH
