Question 446

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. What is the ruling on ligation-that is, removing and severing the ovaries-with the intention of never having children, because the woman is exhausted and claims that she cannot bear it? Sender: Abd al-Rahman - Iraq

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis. It is permissible, but in the case of a married woman, the husband’s satisfaction and consent are necessary. Ahmed Alhasan Jumada al-Awwal 1431 AH
