Question 523
I ask you to interpret the words of the Exalted: ‘Indeed, Allah alone has knowledge of the Hour, sends down the rain, and knows what is in the wombs. No soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die’ ([4]). Does Sayyed Ahmed Alhasan, the Yamani, know where and when he will die?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. May Allah grant you success. This verse is not isolated from the rest of the Quran. It is governed by the words of the Exalted: ‘Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His unseen to anyone, except a messenger whom He has approved’ ([5]). Allah, Glorious and Exalted, knows the unseen, but He informs His messengers and His proofs over His creation of whatever He wills of the unseen, as the verse explains-may Allah grant you success-‘except a messenger whom He has approved.’ Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
