Question 545
Peace be upon you, Your Eminence, Sayyid. My occupation involves travel: I work as a train driver and move among several cities. I travel about 2,700 kilometers in one week. If I go to these cities for a visit, do I shorten the prayer or perform it in full? Thank you. Sender: Adnan al-Farhan - Saudi Arabia
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. I explained in The Laws of Islam that anyone whose time spent traveling is greater than his time spent at home performs the prayer in full and fasts while traveling, whether his travel is for work or for another purpose. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Rajab al-Asabb / 1431 AH
