Question 555

Peace be upon you ... I have a sum of money sufficient for me to perform the obligatory Hajj. If I pay its khums, I will not be able to perform the Hajj. What is the ruling? Should I pay khums or not? Thank you. Sender: Adnan - Saudi Arabia

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Go for the Hajj-may Allah grant you success and accept your deed. Khums is a right belonging to Allah’s Proof over His creation, and he may discharge your liability for it. I ask Allah to accept your Hajj and obedience from you. I ask you to supplicate for your brothers, especially those in the prisons of the oppressors. May Allah make your steps firm. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Mid-Shaban / 1431 AH
