Question 586
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Q1: Prayers and peace be upon our prophet Muhammad, his good and pure family, the Mahdi and the Mahdis from his descendants, and may He grant them peace. I, the poor servant, have a vow that I used to make on every visitation: I would slaughter an animal in order to serve the visitors during the time of the accursed Saddam, either with food, or I would use the price of the animal to buy what was needed to suffice the visitors, such as bedding and foodstuffs. After this discussion, as more people began performing this service, I stopped doing this and changed my intention: either I give the animal-which is the Imam’s right-to its recipients, or the animal and its offspring remain with me, and in the month of Ramadan I distribute it to the poor. What is the opinion of my master and guardian concerning this matter? Or should it remain with me, and every year I slaughter its offspring in the month of Ramadan and distribute the offspring’s meat to the poor? In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Q2: I, (S. A.), am bewildered about my affair. I ask Your Eminence, by your standing with Allah, to supplicate for me that Allah provide me with a child who will delight my eyes. People and my family have wronged me. I ask Your Eminence, after my Lord’s permission-I have heard of your miracles and secrets-that there be a miracle for me, namely, having a child. May Allah grant you reward and success. Sender: Abu Amir - Iraq
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. A1: May Allah grant you success. If each year you make a separate vow, you may change the new vow however you wish, whether you change the time, the manner, or anything else related to the vow. But if you made a vow in a particular manner and at a fixed time every year, then you must fulfill it according to what you vowed. A2: I ask Allah to grant you a righteous child, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Muharram al-Haram, 1432 AH
