Question 780

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Praise be to Allah who guided us to this, for we would not have been guided had Allah not guided us. My guardian, your sinful servant has some questions: Is it necessary to have an official Muslim identity? My master, I still do not have one, and I fear for my parents, who have threatened to end their lives if they ever discover that I have become a Muslim-my parents are idolaters from a Hindu background. My master, is an official identity required when this sinful servant is ready to give his life for your cause with his body and self? Is it necessary for me to have an official Muslim identity? My guardian, I do not have an Islamic identity, and I fear for my family, for they have threatened to commit suicide if they discover that I have become a Muslim-my family are idolaters and Hindus. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. You do not have to possess an official state identity upon which your religion and that you are Muslim are written, especially if this matter would cause harm to you or your relatives. It is sufficient that you are a Muslim who believes in the truth and testifies to the truth in which you believe.
