Question 781

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Is it permissible to pay a bribe for the purpose of obtaining an appointment in the Iraqi Ministry of Education? Sender: Zaynab - Iraq

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. The one who takes the bribe consumes fire in his belly. As for one who is compelled to pay it in order to work and live, there is no problem for him.
