Question 803
My guardian, successor and messenger of Imam al-Mahdi-may Allah hasten his noble relief. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. We are a number of people whom Allah’s light in the Kingdom made rightly guided. We are presently studying under one of the brothers who became rightly guided and whose heart Allah illuminated with love for the Household of prophethood. After a considerable period of learning from him by reciting particular litanies for remembering the family of Muhammad, he brought us to a litany close to the heart but strange to our minds. My companion instructed me to convey this litany to your station to seek clarification and inform us whether it is acceptable and what it is. We ask Allah, the Exalted, to establish you in His earth. Indeed, He is Hearing and Responsive. The litany proceeds upward as follows: ‘My God, Michael; my God, the Crowned One; my God, Raphael; my God, Gabriel; my God, al-Hasan; my God, al-Husayn; my God, Ali …’ This litany begins at sunrise and continues until the sun’s decline. Then a second litany begins after the sun’s decline, as follows: ‘My God, Azrael; my God, Taryaʾil; my God, Saryaʾil; my God, Gabriel; my God, al-Hasan; my God, al-Husayn; my God, Ali.’ He instructed us to prostrate toward the north-that is, the north of the globe-so that the litany proceeds upward and concludes with the remembrance of my guardian, the Commander of the Believers-Allah’s peace be upon him.
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. May Allah grant you success and direct your steps aright. The best litany and remembrance is what appears in the Noble Quran of the remembrance of Allah, Lord of the worlds, and what appears in the purified Sunnah of the Messenger Muhammad and his family-Allah’s prayers be upon them all. If you want nearness to Allah, Glorious is He, do not go beyond what I have mentioned to you. May Allah grant you success and direct your steps aright, for Satan digs pits and sets traps along the path of those journeying to Allah. Beware-may Allah grant you success and direct your steps aright. Adhere to the Two Weighty Things and you will be free of blame. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
