Question 117
In Friday prayer, after the imam performs the second qunut following bowing, what is the ruling if the imam bows again instead of descending into prostration? If the imam's prayer is invalid, what is the ruling on the followers' prayers?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
If the imam notices before raising the head from that bowing, the imam says the takbir for prostration, continues descending to the ground, and prostrates; the prayer is valid. If the imam does not remember until after raising the head from the bowing, the imam's prayer and the prayer of those following the imam are invalid.
