Question 92
Must the basmalah be intended for the specific surah that will be recited after al-Fatihah, or may a person say the basmalah without having decided on the surah and then choose which surah to recite?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
The basmalah is connected to the surah, and every surah has its own basmalah. Therefore, the person must determine the surah and then recite its basmalah.
