Question 169

Some fats from animals whose meat is not eaten, or fats that have become impure, may be used in manufacturing soap, cosmetics, and creams applied to the skin of the face and body or to the hair. Are these products judged pure and permissible to use, or must their ingredients be checked before use when there is doubt?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

They are not judged pure unless their composition has undergone a transformation.
