Question 37

Some people work in blacksmithing or automobile repair, leaving black marks from iron, engine oil, and similar substances on their hands. Does this count as a barrier that prevents wudu or ghusl from being valid?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

If it is only color that the skin has absorbed, there is no problem. But if it is a physical substance that prevents water from reaching the skin, it must be removed when removal is possible so that the water reaches the skin. If removing it is not possible, there is no problem with performing wudu while it remains.
