Question 38
If a person's hand or another limb used in wudu is wounded and the bleeding does not stop, how should wudu be performed, especially when water penetrates a piece of cloth or similar covering placed over the wound?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
The person may place cotton, cloth, or a medical dressing over the wound. There is no problem if the medical dressing covers an area larger than the wound. It is sufficient to wipe lightly over the dressing with a hand moistened with water. The wiping does not have to cover every part of the dressing; rather, the hand is passed over the dressing from its different sides as much as possible. God does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.
