Question 166
Some homes have sofas upholstered with leather whose origin is unknown. What is the ruling on sitting on them, making use of them, or touching them while wet?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Leather from carrion is impure, but it is permissible to make use of it, sit on it, and wear it, and there is no problem in doing so. If it is touched with moisture, however, the thing that touches it becomes impure.
