Question 22
An employee of the Ministry of Health receives a monthly salary. Employees are normally required by the government and ministry to attend every day from the beginning to the end of official working hours. There are five people in the same specialty, and they have divided the weekdays among themselves so that each person attends on one day. Is there a problem with this regarding observance of working hours—has he been negligent? Is there a problem with receiving the monthly salary, given that the money is a public right belonging to my master Imam al-Hujjah (a)?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
If you provide the service to the Muslims properly and without deficiency, it is permissible in whatever arrangement it takes. But if the state of divine truth and justice were established, then it would be obligatory to comply fully and in detail with everything stipulated in it.
