Question 91

Does a wife inherit from real estate itself, from its value, or does she have no inheritance in it? A deceased man left a wife, two sons, four daughters, a house worth 140 million, and its furniture. How should the estate be divided?

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

The wife inherits from the entire estate, real estate and otherwise. In the estate described, the wife receives one eighth, and the remainder is divided among his sons and daughters, with the male receiving two shares and the female one share.
