Question 101
What is the ruling on using background or soundtrack music in films?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
If the music is the music of songs or similar material, it is not permissible to use it. But if it is background music used to indicate that a scene is sad, tense, frightening, and so on, it is permissible. In other words, it is permissible to use it as a film soundtrack.
