Question 86
My father is 63 years old and now suffers from weakness. He cannot tolerate the cold air from an air conditioner and in summer sleeps outside the room. Sometimes he becomes so weak he cannot walk. If he uses what is popularly called teryaq in Ahvaz, his condition improves greatly. He is not addicted to it, but he is much better when he uses it. May he use it as treatment?

Using narcotic substances is not permissible. If his condition requires a sedating treatment, he may consult a doctor who can prescribe an appropriate medication.
