Question 194
Before this blessed call, my brother took his own life because of severe family problems. Is he in Hell? He was not in his normal state; worldly troubles became overwhelming and he did what he did. What can I do for him?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Killing oneself or harming oneself is forbidden, but this does not mean that everyone who does so is among the people of Hell. Whoever dies while holding to the authority of those whom God commanded people to obey in his time is among the people of Paradise.
