Question 195
Is it permissible to place girls or boys in mixed schools when separate schools exist but have a lower standard of education, upbringing and attention to students?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
At the primary-school level—that is, the first six years—there is no problem. In secondary school, and especially during the adolescent years, it is better to avoid mixed schooling as much as possible.
